When it debuted in 2013, Hakkasan was reported to have cost in the realm of $100 million to construct. At 75,000 square feet, it's slightly smaller than Hakkasan nightclub's 80,000 square feet, but close to matching the build-out costs of its sister venue.
In taking over the space vacated by Pure Nightclub inside Caesars, Omnia will look to replace one of the first upscale Vegas dance clubs. “We are pleased to welcome an unprecedented lineup of award-winning, global artists to Omnia and to provide our guests an entertainment experience that is unmatched in Las Vegas,” said Hakkasan Group CEO Neil Moffitt in a statement. Along with van Buuren and Garrix, Afrojack will be joined at Vegas' newest venue by the likes of Chuckie, Oliver Heldens, Nicky Romero and Showtek as well as female DJ duos Krewella and Nervo. Once a resident at the Wynn Resorts' venues, he switched allegiances last year to play at Hakkasan nightclub and is now set to help break-in Omnia. Van de Wall, who earned $22 million last year under the name 'Afrojack,' is a prime example of the financial tug-of-war for DJs. “In Vegas, you are competing with different kinds of things,” van de Wall told FORBES in June 2013. “Vegas is like a Disneyland for grownups.”
